M.C. Laubscher hails from Stellenbosch, South Africa where he was educated at two rugby powerhouses Paul Roos Gymnasium High School and the University of Stellenbosch. As a player he played for Paul Roos Gymnasium’s first team and represented Stellenbosch University, one of the premier clubs in South Africa at all first grade levels ( under 19, under 20 and senior club) and was a member of the Western Province under 21 squad.
He moved to the U.S.A in 2001 and represented Philadelphia Whitemarsh RFC, Old Mission Beach Athletic Club ( San Diego) and the Chicago Lions RFC in the U.S.A Rugby Super League captaining the Chicago Lions RFC in the 2005/2006 seasons. He was a member of the Midwest Thunderbirds All Star team (2005/2006) winning the national championship at the National All Star Championship in 2006. M.C was also a member of the USA Rugby World Cup training squad in 2007 and represented the USA Hawks in the IRB North American 4 tournament in 2007.In rugby sevens he was a member of the USA Rugby men’s player pool and part of Emil Signes Atlantis team to Singapore in 2004.
M.C started his coaching career as assistant coach with the Chicago Lions RFC sevens team in 2012 and joined the Princeton University RFC Men’s team as assistant coach in the Fall of 2013.
