Princeton Places 3rd in Ivy League XVs Championship

11/07/2015 – Princeton 5 v. Dartmouth 44

The Princeton Tigers started the day off with a difficult match-up against the number 1. seed Dartmouth. We started off slowly, giving Dartmouth the opportunity to score six unanswered tries before half-time.  However, as the match progressed our young Tigers team gained in confidence and came out after the half-time break with a new sense of fire. After several minutes of gruelling play between the two sides, we finally scored off a maul. Unfortunately, Dartmouth was able to score once more just before full-time, handing the Tigers a tough loss 44-5 loss.

11/08/2015 – Princeton 17 v. Harvard 12

Following a disappointing loss against Dartmouth, the Tigers faced Harvard for the 3rd and 4th place playoff. The two teams played each other earlier in the season, with Princeton suffering a heartbreaking 17-10 loss, losing in the last minute of play. This tight loss proved to be an important confidence booster, as we held an unflappable belief that we could beat the Harvard team coming into the playoff match. The Princeton Tigers put in an extraordinary effort over the 80 minutes to prevail 3 tries to 2. The entire last 20 minutes was played predominately in our defensive 22, as we fought tooth and nail to keep the Harvard team away from our try line. The final whistle sounded and there were plenty of cheers (and tears) around as we celebrated our tough 17-12 win, and 3rd place finish.
