This Saturday, April 21, Princeton Rugby is set to host the Princeton Women’s Rugby Invitational Championships and the 12th Men’s Rugby New Jersey State Championships. The collegiate men’s teams who will be competing in 15s include The College of New Jersey, Drew University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Montclair State College, Rowan University, Rutgers University, Seton Hall University, and William Patterson University. The women’s team will play 7s against Ivy League rival Columbia. There will be high school exhibition matches featuring Morris Girls’ All-Star XV vs. Union Girls’s All-Stars and Hudson Catholic vs. Christian Brothers Academy.
The Rickerson Cup is named in honor of Stuart Rickerson ’71, a former Princeton Rugby captain and pancreatic cancer survivor. As Princeton’s home turf Rickerson Field suggests, Rickerson has supported Princeton Rugby and promoted the sport across New Jersey for decades. Each year, the tournament raises funds towards fighting pancreatic cancer through the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, the nation’s leading research, support and advocacy group for pancreatic cancer. To date, the Rickerson Cup has raised over $365,000.
Help us reach this year’s goal of $60,000 in funds, and for more information about the Rickerson Cup and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, check out the campaign page. Go Tigers!
